Nineteen people have been injured, two of them seriously, after a bus carrying 21 passengers overturned along Gwanda Road near Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage on Wednesday morning.
According to Chronicle Zimbabwe, the accident occurred at about 6:30am after the driver reportedly lost control of the bus.
The bus was travelling towards Mutare when the accident occurred.
The vehicle overturned along the road before the Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage, with 19 of the 21 passengers sustaining injuries.
Two of those injured were reported to be in serious condition.
Details surrounding what caused the driver to lose control were not immediately available.
It was also not immediately clear whether the bus was carrying passengers from Bulawayo or another location before the journey towards Mutare.
Emergency services and authorities are expected to provide further information on the condition of those injured and the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The accident has once again drawn attention to the risks faced by passengers travelling on Zimbabwe’s major highways, particularly where buses and other long-distance vehicles operate during early morning hours.
