Apostle Chiwenga Responds to New Allegations, Calls on Congregants to Unite

Apostle T.F. Chiwenga of Jesus Revelation Ministries (JRM) has dismissed fresh accusations from his former maid, Tsitsi Chendambuya, claiming they had a sexual relationship in 2017 while he was still married.

The allegations surfaced recently, adding to a growing list of claims made against the church leader over the years. In response, Apostle Chiwenga issued a detailed personal letter to his followers during a church communication on 10 August 2025, urging them to remain united and focused on their faith.

Chiwenga told congregants that he has been facing attacks from multiple directions — physical, emotional, and spiritual — which he believes are aimed at destroying both him and the ministry. “We are at war — not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers,” he wrote.

He recounted incidents dating back to 2016, including an alleged poisoning attempt, two road accidents in 2019 and 2020 which he claims were deliberate, and physical assaults while preaching in various towns. He said in Bindura he was harassed, while in Marondera and Kwekwe he and other believers were beaten by hired groups.

According to Chiwenga, the accusations of sexual misconduct, including those from Chendambuya, are part of a coordinated smear campaign. “These allegations are false,” he said. “They cannot find fault with my preaching, so they seek to discredit my character.”

The church leader said JRM does not have wealthy members and often struggles to meet operational costs. He stated that he personally covers many of the ministry’s expenses and that his personal finances are not funded by the church.

In his letter, Chiwenga identified three groups he believes are behind the attacks: former JRM members expelled for disruptive behaviour, politicians — particularly from ZANU PF — upset by his criticism of state-sponsored violence, and religious leaders whose teachings he has publicly challenged.

He claimed that some politicians have been targeting him since 2016 and that assassination attempts linked to political motives have claimed six lives. He also alleged that certain religious figures have joined the effort to remove him because he exposed what he called “false doctrines.”

Chiwenga accused these groups of working together to spread damaging stories. He said they have been recruiting people, including former church members, to make statements against him. “Their methods are manipulative — offering money, sympathy, and incentives to those willing to falsely testify,” he wrote.

He further alleged that the campaigns are being coordinated through weekly online meetings on platforms like WhatsApp, with the goal of damaging his reputation to the point where his gospel work is hindered.

The apostle addressed previous accusations, including claims he was involved in the death of his first wife, Rejoice Chiwenga, in order to remarry, as well as allegations of adultery and misuse of church funds. “I can lie to you, but I cannot lie to God,” he said. “If I were to defile the pulpit with lies, there would be no salvation for me.”

Chiwenga acknowledged having a past life “full of ungodliness” before becoming a Christian, but said he has been redeemed and will not allow his history to be used against him.

On the matter of Chendambuya’s claims, Chiwenga did not address her name directly in his letter but categorically rejected all accusations of sexual immorality. He described such claims as part of a broader attempt to destabilise the ministry.

He encouraged members of JRM not to be distracted by gossip or to engage in disputes over the allegations. Instead, he urged them to focus on their faith and avoid manipulation by outside forces.

Chiwenga’s statement also called for resilience among congregants. “Let us therefore unite and strengthen one another, keeping our eyes on Christ,” he said.

The apostle said he will continue to preach despite what he describes as attempts to silence him. “I will not be silenced, bribed, or coerced into abandoning my calling,” he wrote.

He maintained that the real battle is spiritual, warning that human agents can be used to try and destroy what he believes God is building through JRM.

The allegations from Chendambuya have not been tested in court, and no legal charges have been brought against Chiwenga regarding the matter.
