A 27-year-old woman from Gokwe was allegedly robbed and gang-raped by three men in Kuwadzana, Harare, after travelling to the capital following a job offer received through a WhatsApp group.
The woman had been offered employment by strangers through the WhatsApp group before travelling from Gokwe to Harare. She was then instructed to proceed to Kuwadzana, where she was allegedly attacked by three men.
According to police, the woman was robbed of her valuables before the three men allegedly gang-raped her. The incident occurred on September 14, 2026, in Kuwadzana.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident and said police were investigating the case.
“The ZRP urges members of the public to exercise caution when responding to unsolicited job offers or engaging with strangers on social media and to verify the identities and credentials of individuals offering employment or other services,” Nyathi said.
Police said the woman travelled to Harare after receiving the job offer through the WhatsApp group. She was instructed to go to Kuwadzana after arriving in the capital.
The circumstances surrounding the job offer are part of the police investigation as officers work to establish the identities of the people involved. Police said the suspects were strangers who had offered the woman employment through the WhatsApp group.
