Authorities indicated that the impersonators are attempting to solicit money, services, or personal information from unsuspecting victims. The department emphasized that these actions amount to fraud and should be treated seriously.
“We urge those affected to be vigilant and verify any communication purporting to be from the Vice President’s Office, or from his wife,” the statement read.
The department clarified that all official communication involving the Vice President, his office, or his household follows formal and verified channels. Such communication is handled only by authorized personnel employed for that purpose.
Members of the public have been advised not to engage with unknown individuals claiming to represent the Vice President or his family without proper verification. Any suspicious contact should be treated with caution.
In addition, the department addressed misinformation on social media platforms. It stated that both the Vice President and his wife do not have accounts on Twitter, now known as X.
The public has been warned that any accounts claiming association with them or presenting their views online are false and should be ignored.
The Department of Presidential Communications reiterated its call for awareness, stressing the importance of verifying information and avoiding scams. The warning aims to protect the public from fraud, impersonation, and cybercrime activities linked to fake identities and misleading communication.
