KAROI — Vagari veguta reKaroi marangarirwa! Residents of Karoi now have a new shopping, business and entertainment destination following the opening of Twin Gate Shopping Centre along Chikangwe Road, a modern commercial development representing an investment of approximately US$1.8 million.
The new shopping centre, owned by South African-based Industrial Psychologist, entrepreneur and businessman Hillary Tomu, is already recording strong tenant uptake, with approximately 75 percent of its commercial space occupied. Since opening its doors in April 2026, Twin Gate has brought together businesses from the automotive, pharmaceutical, insurance, retail, hardware, food and entertainment sectors.
Construction of Twin Gate Shopping Centre began in February 2025 and was completed in March 2026, before the centre officially opened in April 2026.

Among the businesses that have established a presence at Twin Gate is Transerve, a leading Zimbabwean supplier of automotive parts and related products.
Kopje Spares, a major supplier of genuine motor spares, vehicle accessories and heavy-duty bus parts, is also operating from the centre, strengthening Twin Gate’s growing automotive retail offering.
Other tenants include Karoi 24 Hour Pharmacy, a baby-wear and clothing outlet, two insurance companies, a grocery store and hardware businesses, among other operators.
The diverse mix of businesses allows the centre to serve customers looking for everyday goods and services while also attracting motorists and businesses seeking automotive products and related services.
Twin Gate has also developed a growing entertainment and food component, bringing activity to the centre beyond normal daytime retail trading hours.
The complex is home to 24 Missed Calls, a nightclub which has attracted patrons from Karoi and surrounding areas. A popular tshisa nyama and butchery also operates at the centre, adding a food and social dimension to the development.
Tomu said the objective behind Twin Gate was to establish a commercial development capable of accommodating different types of businesses while giving residents access to a wider range of goods and services in one convenient location.
The Zimbabwean-born businessman is based in South Africa, where he works as an Industrial Psychologist and has other business interests. His investment in Twin Gate forms part of his decision to channel some of the resources accumulated through his professional career and business activities back into Zimbabwe.
The current 75 percent occupancy rate reflects growing interest from businesses seeking commercial space at the centre, while the diversity of tenants is gradually positioning Twin Gate as more than a conventional retail development.
Further development is also planned for the property.
Tomu has previously outlined plans for an approximately US$300,000 service station, targeted for completion in 2027, as well as a gas retail centre, medical centre, hotel and gym facility.
The proposed medical centre is expected to include maternity and patient admission facilities, while the other developments would further broaden the range of services available at Twin Gate.
With retail and service businesses operating during the day and food and entertainment establishments attracting customers into the evening, Twin Gate Shopping Centre is steadily establishing itself as one of Karoi’s emerging privately developed commercial destinations and a new landmark along Chikangwe Road.
